About Xenon
The name means stranger in Greek, as it was unexpected. Used in high-intensity lamps for car headlights and cinema projectors. Xenon ion thrusters propel spacecraft including the Dawn mission. Xenon is an effective general anesthetic despite being a noble gas. Used in plasma display panels. Flash lamps filled with xenon produce extremely bright light for photography.
