About Rutherfordium

First of the transactinides, named after Ernest Rutherford. Its discovery opened the transfermium wars, a decades long naming fight between laboratories in Berkeley and Dubna that ended only in 1997. Made in particle accelerators, its atoms survive hours at best. Chemical studies on single atoms show it behaves like a heavier hafnium.
