About Chromium
Gives stainless steel its corrosion resistance and rubies their red color. Chrome plating creates a shiny, durable surface. Hexavalent chromium is highly toxic and a known carcinogen. Chromium supplements are marketed for weight loss despite limited evidence. The name comes from the Greek word for color because of its many colorful compounds.
