About Nickel
Makes stainless steel stainless along with chromium. Used in coins worldwide since the 19th century. Nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal hydride batteries powered electronics before lithium-ion. Highly resistant to corrosion. The name comes from German Kupfernickel meaning devils copper because miners could not extract copper from nickel ores. Earths core is believed to be iron-nickel alloy.
