About Copper
The first metal widely used by humans, beginning around 8000 BC. Excellent conductor of electricity and heat. The Bronze Age began when copper was alloyed with tin. Antimicrobial properties reduce bacteria on surfaces. Used in electrical wiring, plumbing, and electronics. The Statue of Liberty is covered in 80 tons of copper. Copper deficiency is rare but causes neurological problems.
