About Terbium

One of four elements named after Ytterby, a single quarry village in Sweden. Terbium green phosphors brighten fluorescent lamps and screens. Terfenol-D, a terbium-iron alloy, changes shape in a magnetic field and is used in solid state actuators and sonar systems. Terbium is also added to crystals in solid state lasers and to doping agents in optical fibers.
