About Flerovium
Named for Georgy Flerov, founder of the Dubna laboratory that made it, jointly credited with Livermore. Sits near the predicted island of stability, where superheavy nuclei may live longer. Hundreds of atoms have been created, some lasting seconds. Oddly for a heavy metal, early chemistry hints it may be unusually volatile, almost gas-like. Named in 2012.
