About Indium
Named for its indigo blue spectral line. Indium tin oxide is the transparent conductor in every touchscreen and LCD display. So soft it can be scratched with a fingernail. Demand has surged due to flat-screen displays and solar panels. Indium gallium arsenide is used in infrared detectors. The cryogenic indium seal is used in space applications.
