About Dysprosium
From the Greek dysprositos, meaning hard to get at, because it took decades to isolate. A few percent of dysprosium lets the neodymium magnets in wind turbines and electric car motors survive high heat without demagnetizing, making it a critical green energy metal. Dysprosium iodide lamps once lit film sets and stadiums. Mostly mined in China.
