About Lawrencium

Named after Ernest Lawrence, inventor of the cyclotron, and the last of the actinides. Its chemistry surprised researchers by behaving more like a lanthanide than its neighbors. Made a few atoms at a time, its longest lived isotope survives about eleven hours. Decades of dispute between Berkeley and Dubna preceded the final naming. Research use only.
