About Germanium

A semiconductor used in early transistors before silicon became dominant. Still used in fiber optics and infrared optics. Named after Germany. Germanium lenses are transparent to infrared radiation. Used in night vision equipment and thermal imaging cameras. Some dietary supplements claim health benefits but there is no proven nutritional need.
