About Bromine

One of only two elements liquid at room temperature, the other being mercury. Reddish-brown with a choking odor. Used in flame retardants, water purification, and pharmaceuticals. Brominated vegetable oil was once used in citrus sodas. Potassium bromide was used as a sedative in the 19th century. The name means stench in Greek.
